Sam is the 21 year-old great-nephew of Tom, the airman at the heart of our missing Blenheim story. He works as a freelance illustrator.
He was a boy of 12 when he first heard the story about his great-uncle’s missing Blenheim. Sam now wants to join the search for the missing aircraft. His research, assisted by referencing information contained in personal documents belonging to Josephine, helped to narrow down the location to a specific region in central Africa.
He intends to keep a sketch diary of his experience on this expedition. He will also take with him one of Josephine’s letters; a photograph of the Blenheim crew; and an item that Tom was given at the outset of war by Josephine’s mother and which Tom kept in his pocket throughout the duration of WW2.
Sam’s illustrations feature in the short animation trailer created by Scottish animator, Graham Love. He designed the Takoradi Route travel cards and stamps which will record ‘Josephine‘s‘ unique flight from Takoradi to Cairo (then onwards to Singapore) - and the tiny paper 'Josephine' aircraft on a stand. These items have been specially created by Sam for our Pro Jo crowdfunding campaigns.
Sam's interests include: wildlife conservation, mountain biking, travel, photography and art.
